Police in Hendersonville, Tennessee, have initiated a homicide investigation following the discovery of a teen girl’s remains on Wednesday along a busy Middle Tennessee road.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Trinity Bostic, was reported missing in nearby Macon County on June 29, the Hendersonville Police Department stated in a news release.
Authorities suspect foul play and have labeled the death investigation as “essentially a homicide investigation,” according to Sgt. Nicholas Edwards, who spoke to USA TODAY. When asked about potential suspects, Edwards declined to comment to “maintain the integrity of the investigation.”
The remains were discovered on July 3 in Hendersonville, in a wood line near Vietnam Veterans Boulevard and New Shackle Island Road. A Tennessee Department of Transportation subcontract worker, who was picking up trash along the road, found the body, police said.
